Timeline: August 2017 to June 2018

 

Objectives and Expected Outcomes

 

The Main objectives are:

 

  • To increase community knowledge on the emerging patterns in PLHIV/AIDS on long term ARV’s (for at least 10 years).

  • To identify and raise awareness regarding unmet care needs for PLHIV on long term ARV’s (for at least 10 years) including prevention strategies for co-morbidities in this cohort.

  • To empower people living with HIV/AIDS on long term ARV’s to make informed decisions regarding their treatment.

  • To provide networking opportunities for establishing collaborative efforts to advocate for priorities in the medical and psychosocial care of people living with HIV in long term ARV’s.

The main Expected Outcomes are:

  • To have increased awareness within the patients’ community; researchers; healthcare providers and other key stakeholders of the clinical and psychosocial unmet needs of PLHIV on long term ARV’s.

  • To have advocacy needs identified in order to better respond to the varied needs of PLHIV on long term ARV’s.

  • To be able to develop policy recommendations for more appropriate and focused responses for PLHIV on long term ARV’s.

Milestones, Deliverables and Activities

The planned Milestones are:

  • A Stakeholders’ Meeting/Conference focused on:

    • The emerging patterns in people living with HIV/AIDS on long term ARV’s and the effect of a new HIV infection on older bodies;

    • The manifestations and impact of co-morbidities in patients on newer generation of ARVs;

    • The future care for current patients and Doctor-patient relationship;

    • The HIV cure and treatment.
      Planned meeting date and location: 3-6 May 2018, Kyiv, Ukraine
      Number of Participants: 80

  • Two thematic webinars focused on the medical and psychosocial emerging patterns in PLHIV/AIDS who are 18-50 years - on long term ARV’s (for at least 10 years).
    Planned dates: April and May 2018


The Main Deliverables are:

 

  • Training Packages which will be delivered through a series of two webinars in preparation of the stakeholders meeting. The training content will concern on the medical and psychosocial emerging patterns in PLHIV/AIDS who are 18-50 years - on long term ARV’s (for at least 10 years).

  • All the training materials will be made available for future use.

  • Stakeholders’ Meeting Report which would contain the main meeting findings concerning the met and the unmet needs of PLHIV/AIDS who are 18-50 years - on long term ARV’s (for at least 10 years) and the identified advocacy and policy demands.

  • Written policy recommendations addressing the medical, psychosocial needs of PLHIV/AIDS who are 18-50 years - on long term ARV’s (for at least 10 years). It is intended that the policy recommendations may be used as contribution to the future development of standards of care for PLHIV/AIDS in this age band.

 

The planned Activities are:

 

  • Appointment of project leader and steering committee.

  • Contact partners.

  • Preparation of a series of two webinars.

  • Preparation of the 3rd multi-stakeholders meeting/conference.

  • Dissemination of the key findings/ 3rd multi-stakeholders meeting report.

  • Development of Policy recommendations.

Target Groups:

 

Patients’ community; healthcare providers; researchers and other key stakeholders involved in HIV research, treatment and care.
